Most detailing is a cleaning job. Paint correction isn't — it's refinishing. You're removing a measured layer of clearcoat with compounds, pads and machines, and the difference between doing that well and doing it badly is invisible until the light hits it.
Scott Irwin founded Wheel to Wheel Detailing in 2024 after training as an auto body technician in auto restoration. That background is the reason correction is offered here at all, and the reason severe jobs get an extra day or two rather than being pushed out on schedule.
The shop covers the Creston Valley — Erickson, Canyon, Wynndel and Lister — and takes cars, trucks, SUVs, RVs and boats. It also runs up Highway 3A to the Kootenay Lake east shore, where Crawford Bay and its neighbours bring more boat and trailer work than anywhere else in the service area.

Why the Kootenays Are Hard on Vehicles
Detailing in the Kootenays isn't the same job as detailing on the coast. These six conditions drive nearly every paint and interior problem that comes through the door.
The Salmo–Creston summit on Highway 3 is the highest paved pass in Canada and one of the most heavily treated stretches of winter road in the province. Salt and brine wick into seams, box rails and suspension pockets and keep working long after the road looks dry. Anything that commutes over the pass takes the worst of it.
Sand and crushed grit go down all winter on Highway 3 and 3A. At highway speed it sandblasts front ends, chips paint down to primer and pits windshields. Every chip is a bare-metal entry point, and bare metal in a salted environment is where rust starts.
This is a working agricultural valley — grain, hay, orchards and a lot of gravel side road. Fine dust finds its way into cabin filters, vents and upholstery, and it behaves like a mild abrasive on paint every time a dry vehicle gets wiped down.
Irrigation overspray and hard water leave mineral deposits that bond to glass and clearcoat. Once they bake in summer sun they etch below the surface and stop washing off — at that point they have to be polished out rather than cleaned off.
Kootenay summers bring smoke and fine alkaline ash that settles on every horizontal surface. Left through a heat cycle it etches clearcoat, and it pulls into cabin air intakes where the smell sets into headliners and upholstery.
Boat launches, gravel approaches and lake water are hard on trailers, tow vehicles and hulls alike. Launch grit gets dragged across paint, and hard water spotting sets fast on a hot hull sitting in the sun.

Packages run 2 years at $500, 4 years at $900 and 6 years at $1,300 — each warrantied against oxidation and paint staining for the term, and each including full body, windshield and wheel faces. A carnauba wax is also available at $200 for cars and $250 for trucks, wash included, if you would rather not commit to a coating.

Mobile covers interior and exterior detailing at the same prices as the shop; paint correction and coatings stay in the shop because they need controlled lighting and a controlled cure environment. The service area runs from Crawford Bay to Moyie and everywhere in between.
The detail itself is priced the same as shop work — basic interior from $180, full interior with extraction from $280, exterior detail $120. On top of that, all mobile work carries a travel fee of at least $20. Yahk and Sanca are $80, and Crawford Bay or Moyie are $110, with everywhere in between quoted on the same scale. You are told the total, travel included, before anything is booked.
